Cherry Blossoms 2015

Photographing the Cherry Blossoms in Washington, D.C. is something I have been wanting to do for quite some time now. After a couple of years of weather false alarms, I figured this year had to be the year. After monitoring the weather, I was able to keep tabs on how Washington's Winter was going. And the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms all depends on the weather. So there's no way to guarantee seeing Cherry Blossoms in full bloom...it's a very risky chance you take. So never plan your vacation around seeing them unless you're ready to be disappointed if you go to Washington and nothing is happening with the Cherry Blossoms. Well, I decided to take that chance to set out to photograph my Cherry Blossoms. My first day in Washington was very cloudy with light rain, but the Cherry Blossoms were definitely in full bloom according to the news. But instead, I opted to go to Baltimore to do some photography there since the weather was just a little tad better. The weather for Washington the next day was cool, cloudy and gloomy, but no rain. Yaaay! So I knew what to expect when I got there. The next morning I arrived at the Tidal Basin and saw nice pink and white Cherry Blossoms in full bloom along the Tidal Basin. There were also Cherry Blossom and pink Magnolia trees in West Potomac Park. It was still cloudy and cool, but I couldn't let the weather prevent me from my task at hand. I joined other photographers and tourists as I started my walk along the narrow path of the Tidal Basin. I walked, talked and photographed what I came there for. After spending hours at the Tidal Basin, I came away with some very interesting images. And it was fun framing the monuments within the tree branches. Will I go back next year? I probably will. But I hope to have bluer skies and a little sun. But then again, that all depends on the Winter. Stay tuned...
