The Chicago Gospel Music Festival in Ellis Park drew huge crowds during the two-day music event. In addition to inspirational music, the Gospel Festival also offered a historic tour of Bronzeville, a kids activity zone as well as a health & wellness oasis, an art fair and marketplace, a visit with community partners and plenty of food and beverage to go along with good music! On opening night, McDonald's presented the Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour featuring, The Mississippi Mass Choir with "Mama Mosie" Burks, comedian Jonathan Slocumb, Erica Campbell of Mary Mary, Uncle Reece, Anthony Martin and Group TherAPy and headliner Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Singers. As Kurt Carr began to take the stage, thunderstorms began to roll in and their performance was cut short. Thanks to Kurt Carr for even giving the crowd some praise and worship while the rains fell. But it was all sunny skies for day two as the evening began with a Tribute to Dr. Charles G. Hayes, featuring Pastor Derail Smith and the Dr. Charles G. Hayes Reunion Choir. Following their performance were: Karen Clark-Sheard, VaShawn Mitchell and Tasha Cobbs and the energetic Tye Tribbett, who closed out the festival.
